Doing it my way.
Hi,
I'm Lewis, the Founder and Managing Director of Infinite Cloud IT.
After moving from Aberdeen to Brighton in 2016, I realized there was a gap in the market for an IT services provider that truly embraced technology to its fullest. My frustration with previous roles where technology was underutilized led me to start Infinite Cloud IT. My mission is to ensure our clients never experience the disappointment of inconsistent service. We focus on getting the basics right, every time, and empowering our team with fair wages and a positive work environment. This commitment translates into exceptional service for our clients. I'm excited to partner with you and support your business in achieving its goals.
But I also wanted to go beyond my clients, to the people that will one day be helping me run my organisation.
I once read an article concerning how much of their salary the average Brightonian spends on rent each month - a whopping 60%. From experience, that will be on a sharing arrangement (in a property that’s maintained to the bare-minimum) and will be a combination of high rents & low salaries. It irritates me that, for a city which claims to be as progressive as Brighton, there seems to be such a strong reluctance by employers and businesses to pay a wage which reflects the cost to the individual of being available in that job pool to begin with. As a city which is otherwise so welcoming (and a safe haven) for so many communities, it makes no sense to me, and I wanted to take my experience of coming up through it in the early days of living there and make a difference.
We will be a living wage employer and I intend to see to it that each person I employ, in this business, receives a percentage above the market rate (in whichever area they reside) for their job level. In doing so, I know that (while it may inflate the cost of my services) it will increase the morale (and productivity) of my team, creating a more consistent (and personal) service to my clients through familiarity with the individuals taking their phone calls.
I have also set the goal of becoming a registered B-Corporation within our first 12 months. This is a certification I first encountered a number of years ago and its values have always stood out to be as being worthwhile pursuing, not only as they place us among big brands like Ben & Jerrys (Who doesn’t want to be associated with those guys?) or Patagonia, but because I feel that achieving this certification shows how aligned I am with reflecting social change in what we do every day.
Speaking of social change, I have also made a first-year commitment to finding a community organisation to provide long-term corporate sponsorship and a small (but not necessarily local) charity to support on a yearly basis. While I already have an organisation that’s close to my heart in the back of my mind for sponsorship, I am very much looking forward to getting out there - as soon as I am in a position to do so - to meet with organisations and find my first cause to back.
It took me a year of planning (and procrastinating) to get here and I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be doing this. Am I terrified? I pay a mortgage - of course I am! But above all else, I’m excited. I know what I’m good at and I know what I can do and I’m really looking forward to putting those skills into practise, building something which not only takes my life in the direction I want to take it, but that has a positive & lasting effect on the people it comes into contact with.
I look forward to partnering with you and helping to support your business in meeting its goals.
Lewis
